The Five Smooth Stones
The Matthew House lives by the idea of the five smooth stones from the story of David and Goliath. We are like David, a little boy who has to fight the Giant named Goliath. David picks up the five smooth stones from the river bed. David takes his slingshot and one smooth stone out of his pouch, and runs towards the Giant with confidence and boldness. Knowing that God is with him, he knows that he will not fail. David winds up his slingshot, lets it fly, and kills Goliath. At the Matthew House, the Giant may be guilt, shame, selfishness, anger, lack of purpose, addiction, or one of many other hurts in their life. We cannot defeat the Giants in our lives alone, but with God’s help, he can bring light into the darkness.
